Bài Skills 1 thuộc Unit 11 – “Electronic Devices” tập trung vào hai kỹ năng:
- Reading (Đọc hiểu): Đọc ba tờ quảng cáo (leaflets) về ba thiết bị điện tử: smartphone, portable music player và smart window shade. Luyện kỹ năng đọc lấy nghĩa từ ngữ cảnh và đọc lấy chi tiết.

Leaflet 1 – Smartphone:
You can do a lot of things with this small smartphone! This light, stylish phone has a special self-portrait feature that helps you send great photos of yourself right away. Its camcorder will record important moments, so you can share them with friends. Besides standard text messaging and phone calls, it can keep you connected through emails, video calls, and social networking apps.

It’s an excellent option for those that have trouble controlling the temperature of their houses. It can also give additional privacy to apartments by blocking out light as well as unwanted views.

I talked with Hung about the smartphone that is important to him. He has had it for almost two years. It is a sleek black smartphone with a vibrant touchscreen display. It is thin and light, so it is easy to hold and carry around.
Hung uses his smartphone every day. In the morning, it works as his alarm clock. During the day, he uses it to communicate with his family and friends through messages and calls. He also uses it to search for information online and complete school assignments. In the evening, it is his entertainment device – he watches videos and listens to music on it.
This smartphone is important to Hung for several reasons. First, it helps him stay connected with the people he cares about. Second, it is like a personal assistant that helps him organise his schedule and reminders. Most importantly, it is his primary source of information whenever he needs to look something up.
